The 100-Series Land Cruiser succeeded the 80-Series model in 1998 with amenities including an electronically controlled four-wheel-drive system with skid control, a more luxurious interior and, for the first time in a Land Cruiser, an independent front suspension and V8 engine.Power comes from a “2UZ-FE” 4.7-liter DOHC V8, rated at 230 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to all four wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission and a 2-speed transfer case.
