The 575M was launched in 2002 as a replacement for the 550 Maranello. With input from its consumer base, the new grand tourer featured a number of styling and mechanical revisions over its predecessor. Ferrari introduced the GTC package in 2005, which changed the character of the 575 to a more focused driver's car over the GT-focused base model. Notably, for F1-equipped cars, the revised transmission software reduced gear changes to 180 milliseconds. Power comes from a 5.7-liter quad-cam V12, rated at 515 horsepower and 434 lb-ft of torque. Output is shuttled to the rear wheels through a paddle-shifted 6-speed F1 automated manual gearbox.
