2005 Mazda RX-8 Shinka Edition, finished in Black Cherry Mica with a Parchment Tan interior. This RX-8 is equipped with the desirable 6-speed manual transmission. Mazda reportedly produced 2,150 Shinka RX-8s during the 2005 model year. The Shinka Edition differed from standard RX-8s in that it had Black Cherry Mica paint with Parchment leather seats, urethane filled suspension cross members (improving handling and ride quality), reinforced A-pillars for increased rigidity, unique suspension tuning with thicker damper shafts, and enhanced material choices for the interior. Introduced for the 2004 model year, the RX-8 was marketed as the latest in a long line of Mazda coupes powered by a rotary engine. It further stood out from the competition with a pair of rear-hinged half-doors that let passengers access the rear seats without resorting to contortionism. 2009 brought a mid-cycle update, and production ended after the 2012 model year. Mazda still hasn't released another RX-badged coupe.Power for this RX-8 comes from a 1.3-liter twin-rotor engine, rated at 238 horsepower and 160 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission.
