Finished in Anthracite Metallic with a Sand Beige leather interior. This 540i features the desirable 6-speed manual transmission. Factory equipment on this 540i includes the Sport Package — which adds an M Sport suspension, power-operated sport front seats, an M steering wheel, and Shadowline exterior trim — as well as a power sunroof, heated front seats, Montana leather upholstery, wood interior trim, xenon headlights, and more as listed below.Some modifications have been made to this 540i, including an aftermarket "M5 Style" front bumper, ZHP shift knob, Bluebus Bluetooth module, and Dinan dual-tip axle-back exhaust. In the United States, BMW introduced the E39-generation 5 Series for the 1997 model year. Available at launch, the V8-powered 540i remained positioned as the quickest and most expensive non-M-badged model until production ended after the 2003 model year.Power comes from an "M62" 4.4-liter V8, which produces 290 horsepower and 324 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission.
