No modifications have been made to this particular 986.The first generation Boxster was Porsche's first water-cooled, rear-engine car and was released ahead of the 996-generation 911. It represented a new entry point into the Porsche line-up, sharing many components with its bigger 911 relative. The name "Boxster" is derived from the combination of the words "Boxer" — referring to the car's engine configuration — and "Roadster," as the car was designed primarily as a convertible; a first since the 550 Spyder. It was a wildly successful model for Porsche, cementing the Boxster as a staple in the Porsche lineup.For the 2000 model year, Porsche would increase the engine displacement of the Boxster from 2.5 to 2.7 liters. As a result, power increased by 16 horsepower and 11 lb-ft of torque over earlier models.Power comes from the "M96" 2.7-liter flat 6, which produces 217 horsepower and 192 lb-feet of torque.
