2009 Mercedes-Benz SL550, finished in Silver Arrow Metallic with a red interior. This SL550 is one of 550 Silver Arrow models made for the 2009 model year, as indicated by a plaque on the center console. Mercedes-Benz also made 100 SL63 Silver Arrow models, and both V8-powered limited-production roadsters are finished exclusively in Silver Arrow Metallic, with red leather upholstery, Designo piano black lacquer wood trim, and smoked headlights and taillights.Additional factory equipment includes the AMG Styling Package, 19-inch AMG wheels, Active Body Control (ABC) suspension system, bi-xenon headlights, a panoramic glass roof, Nappa leather upholstery, heated and ventilated multi-contour seats, the Airscarf neck heater system, and a Harman Kardon sound system. Modifications are limited to tinted windows.Called R230 internally, the first new 21st-century SL made its debut for the 2003 model year as a replacement for the venerable R129 model. It was appreciably quicker and far more advanced than its predecessor, and it came standard with a power-retractable hardtop. 2009 brought a round of comprehensive updates, including a redesigned front end, and production ended in 2011.Power comes from a 5.5-liter V8, rated at 382 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. Called "M273" internally, it spins the rear wheels via a 7-speed automatic transmission.
