2001 Porsche Boxster S, finished in Speed Yellow with a black soft top and black interior. This Boxster S is equipped with the desirable 6-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a power-operated soft top, Litronic xenon headlamps, leather upholstery, 8-way power-adjustable and heated seats, and a 6-speaker sound system. Modifications include aftermarket wheels, black painted front grille surround, a magnetic oil pan drain plug, an Alpine head unit, and yellow seatbelt covers.Called "986" internally, the first-generation Boxster was introduced for 1997 as Porsche's long-awaited entry-level model. It was immediately well-received by driving enthusiasts; some even called it a better overall platform than the 911 thanks to its mid-mounted engine. In hindsight, it's one of the cars that saved Porsche from an uncertain fate.The first major update to the Boxster came for the 2000 model year with the introduction of the more powerful Boxster S, which also added a 6-speed manual transmission, larger brakes, and a stiffer suspension.Power comes from a 3.2-liter flat-6 engine, rated at 250 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
