While both cars were mechanically related, the SLC received a fixed roof and a wheelbase stretched by about 14 inches to accommodate a four-seater layout. It was positioned as both a more spacious version of the SL and a two-door alternative to the W116 S-Class. 1981 brought a 3.8-liter V8. While the SL lived on until 1991, the SLC retired after 1981 to leave space for the "C126" SEC.Power comes from a 3.8-liter V8, rated at 155 horsepower and 196 lb-ft of torque.
