2009 Smart Fortwo Brabus, finished in blue and black with a black interior. Modifications reported include an ECU tune, a TR8-GT15 turbocharger kit, an air-to-water intercooler, a solid front motor mount, bigger injectors, a Split Second FTC1 fuel/timing calibrator, matte blue paint, tinted windows, an AEM Electronics air/fuel ratio gauge, a GlowShift Gauges boost gauge, and a MADNESS Autoworks GOPedal throttle controller.Factory equipment includes a panoramic roof panel, heated seats, and air conditioning, according to a build sheet pictured in the gallery.Initially planned as a joint-venture between Swatch and Volkswagen, the Smart project was ultimately brought to the market by Mercedes-Benz. The original Fortwo entered production in 1998, and the second-generation model went on sale in the United States for the 2008 model year with a longer wheelbase and a more angular exterior design. It retained its predecessor's tiny footprint, two-seater interior, and rear-mounted engine. Production ended in 2014.Power comes from a 1.0-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, rated at 70 horsepower and 68 lb-ft of torque when left stock and naturally-aspirated. The modifications likely increase those figures but a dyno sheet is not available. The engine spins the rear wheels via a 5-speed automated-manual transmission.
