Product Details

1990 BMW M3, finished in Brilliant Red with a black interior. This M3 is a Canadian-spec model . Originally purchased in Ontario, Canada, it's equipped with a metric instrument cluster, the vehicle was subsequently registered in the U.S. in January 2001.The seller states that this M3's factory-fitted 2.3-liter inline-4 has been replaced by an "S52" 3.2-liter straight-6 sourced from an E36-generation M3. Other notable components that were carried over include its 5-speed manual transmission and DME. The full list of modifications reported by the seller is listed below.According to the build sheet provided in the gallery, factory equipment includes a power sunroof, leather upholstery, heated seats, air conditioning, and cruise control.Celebrated as one of the best and most influential BMW M models of all time, the first-generation M3 entered production in 1986, though it didn't reach American shores until the 1988 model year. It was initially released to satisfy touring car homologation requirements so it received a long list of parts derived from racing, including a naturally-aspirated 2.3-liter engine, a revised suspension system, and a specific body kit. It also weighed less than the standard "E30" 3 Series. Production ended after the 1991 model year, and most historians agree about 5,300 units of the original M3 were built for America.Power comes from an "S52" 3.2-liter straight-6, rated at 240 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque in stock form. Due to the modifications performed to this M3, it may produce more power, but a dyno sheet was not provided to confirm. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
