Like the standard Impreza, the WRX was offered as a sedan and as a station wagon.The WRX (World Rally eXperimental) gained rally-bred upgrades, including a more powerful engine, a firmer suspension, a limited-slip rear differential, and a more muscular design characterized by a functional hood scoop and a rear spoiler. It became an instant success, thanks in part to its rally-inspired handling and its turbocharged engine.Power comes from an "EJ205" 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-4, which produces 227 horsepower and 217 lb-ft of torque. It spins all four wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission and Subaru's Variable Torque Distribution all-wheel-drive system.
