2003 BMW 540i Touring, finished in Titanium Silver Metallic with a grey leather interior. It added sport suspension (replaced by Bilstein B6 shocks and an H&R sport spring kit in this case), front sport seats, high-gloss exterior Shadowline window trim, black door trim, a black headliner, and M door sills, among other features. This 540i Touring also features a sunroof, xenon headlights, leather upholstery, and more as detailed below.Modifications include quad MagnaFlow exhaust, the aforementioned Bilstein B6 shocks and H&R sport springs, Android head unit, an aftermarket amplifier, European headlights with black headlight housings, aftermarket rear diffuser and black kidney grilles.In the United States, BMW introduced the "E39"-generation 5 Series for the 1997 model year. Available at launch, the V8-powered 540i remained positioned as the quickest and most expensive non-M-badged model until production ended after the 2003 model year. It was initially only offered as a sedan, but a wagon joined the range for 1999.Power comes from an "M62" 4.4-liter V8, rated at 290 horsepower and 324 lb-ft of torque. Output is shuttled to the rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission.
