Modifications on this E28 M5 include a Conforti chip, Billy Boat stainless steel cat-back exhaust, a high flow catalytic converter, Spax adjustable struts, lowering springs, and a standard 535i suspension in place of the standard hydraulic self-leveling suspension.Maintenance conducted during this seller's ownership includes a replaced clutch slave cylinder and hose (September 2020), rebuilt driver's side rear and passenger side front brake calipers (August 2020), a new clutch and all transmission seals replaced at 100,000 miles, and new front end suspension components also installed at 100,000 miles. The BMW E28 M5 was produced for the United States market solely for the 1988 model year. It was the first time BMW would put an M engine into a sport sedan for the U.S. market, giving birth to one of the most recognizable performance sedan lineages of all time. Just 1,238 examples were built to American specifications.Power comes from an "S38" 3.5-liter inline-6, which produces 256 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque in stock tune. This M5 may be producing slightly more power due to its modifications, however no dyno sheet was provided to confirm. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
