1982 Mercedes-Benz 500SEC, finished in Lapis Blue with a beige interior. This 500SEC is a European-spec car reportedly purchased new in Geneva, Switzerland, by the seller's grandfather and imported to the United States in 2012. Known as the C126 internally, the SEC was launched for the 1983 model year as the W126's coupe counterpart. While buyers in America were initially asked to settle for the 155-horsepower 380 model, Europeans could order the 500 variant that offered a more powerful engine, and the power disparity helped fuel a lucrative gray market. 500 sedans and coupes finally arrived in America for 1984, and both body styles gained an even bigger V8 for 1986. SEC sales ended after the 1991 model year.Power for this 500 SEC comes from a 5.0-liter V8, which produces 228 horsepower and 299 lb-ft of torque. It spins the rear wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission.
