Sedans were offered as the E320 CDI, the E350, the E500, and, above them all, the E55 AMG. The AMG's supercharged V8 far eclipsed the next highest performance E500 V8. The factory 0-to-60 time was quoted at 4.5 seconds. The E55 was further fortified with a specially tuned Airmatic air suspension and massive brakes with 8-piston calipers squeezing 14.2-inch vented front rotors and 13-inch rear rotors with 4-piston calipers.Power comes from the supercharged and intercooled "M113" 5.5-liter V8, which produces 469 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Each engine is hand-assembled by one mechanic, whose signature appears on the engine cover.
