Called "NB" internally, it received an updated design, a more powerful engine, and a bigger trunk, among other changes. It was generally praised as being easier to live with on a daily basis but it lost none of its predecessor's agility and character. Mazda replaced the "NB" with the third-generation "NC" model in 2006.Power comes from a 5.7-liter "LS6" V8, rated at 405 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque when left stock.
