Like the standard Impreza, the WRX (World Rally eXperimental) was offered as a sedan and as a station wagon but it gained rally-bred upgrades including a more powerful engine, a firmer suspension system, and a more muscular-looking exterior design characterized by a hood scoop.Power comes from a Japanese market "STI" 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-4 engine, rated at 265 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque when left stock. A dyno sheet provided in the photo gallery reports that this WRX now produces 296 horsepower and 335 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. Output is sent to all four wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
