2001 BMW M5, finished in Jet Black with a Caramel interior. It was the first BMW M model equipped with a V8 engine, and it was exclusively offered with a 6-speed manual transmission. In 2001, BMW facelifted the M5, adding the now-famous "Halo" headlights, Celis rear lights, redesigned fog lights, a new-look steering wheel, gray instrument gauges, and a 16:9 navigation display, among other features. Revised VANOS accumulators and piston rings were fitted starting in early 2000.Power comes from a 4.9-liter "S62" V8, which produces 394 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque in stock form. The output of this M5 may be higher due to some of its modifications, but no dyno sheet is available to confirm. The engine spins the rear wheels via a 6-speed Getrag 420G manual transmission.
