Extensively modified for racing, this M3 is equipped with a Dinan-built 3.2-liter "S52" engine, Sunbelt Performance Engines "Stage 2" camshafts, 24-pound fuel injectors, an OBX Racing Sports exhaust system, 17-inch Kosei K1 wheels, Ground Control Track/School coilovers, a BimmerWorld carbon fiber wing, a Recaro Profi SPG driver's seat, a MOMO tuner steering wheel, an HG Performance roll cage, and a FireSense fire suppression system. The second-generation M3 was bigger than its predecessor, the original E30-based model, but it remained quick and engaging to drive so demand quickly ballooned.Power comes from an "S52" 3.2-liter straight-6, rated at 240 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque when left stock. The modifications likely increase those figures but a dyno sheet is not available. Called "S52" internally, it spins the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
