1981 Volkswagen Rabbit Convertible, finished in Alpine White with a black soft top and a black and red interior. This Rabbit is equipped with a 5 speed manual transmission. Modifications made to this Rabbit are limited to a JVC cassette player, JL Audio speakers, and the deletion of the air conditioning compressor.Volkswagen launched the Golf Cabriolet for the 1980 model year to fill the gap left by the long-lived drop-top Beetle, though it was named the Rabbit Convertible in the U.S market. Manufactured in Germany by coachbuilder Karmann, it was based on the Rabbit, and the two cars were mechanically identical, but it was only offered with a gasoline-burning engine. Sales in America ended after the 1994 model year.Power for this Rabbit comes from a 1.7-liter 4-cylinder, rated at 74 horsepower and 90 lb-ft of torque.
