2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport, finished in Sienna Pearl Coat with an Agate interior. Built during the final year of XJ production, this Cherokee is equipped with 15-inch steel wheels, tinted windows, a trailer hitch, cloth upholstery, a leather-upholstered steering wheel, air conditioning, plus cassette and CD players. Called "XJ" internally, it ditched its predecessor's body-on-frame layout in favor of unibody construction to offer a more comfortable ride on the pavement, though it remained exceptionally capable off-road. It was a risky bet but it paid off: the XJ nearly doubled Jeep's retail sales in 1984 and it remained available in America until 2001.Power comes from a 4.0-liter straight-6 engine, rated at 190 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. It spins the rear or the four wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission, a 2-speed transfer case, and Jeep's "Command-Trac" part-time 4-wheel-drive system.
