Based on the "GMT400" platform, it was initially available only with two doors and positioned as a smaller alternative to the Suburban. Like Ford, Chevrolet sensed the market was shifting towards more family-friendly SUVs so it made the Blazer available with rear doors and renamed it Tahoe for 1995. The new designation also brought an updated exterior design, among other changes.Power comes from a 5.7-liter V8, rated at 255 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. It spins the rear or the 4 wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission and a 2-speed transfer case.
