Finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic with an AMG Charcoal leather interior. The odometer on this SL55 currently indicates approximately 38,300 miles. According to the build sheet pictured in the photo gallery, this unmodified SL55 came equipped with 18-inch AMG 5-spoke alloy wheels, Active Body Control (ABC) suspension, heated and power-adjustable sport seats with massage function, a Bose sound system, and more as detailed below. Called R230 internally, the first new SL of the 21st century made its debut for the 2003 model year as a replacement for the venerable R129 model. It was appreciably quicker and far more advanced than its predecessor, it ditched the boxy lines for a sleeker and more rounded design, and it came standard with a power-retractable hardtop.The SL55 was the first full AMG version of the SL to be offered to the U.S. market, and the model featured a more powerful engine, a Speedshift automatic transmission, a high-performance brake system, model-specific body styling and wheels, and a sport steering wheel.Power comes from an "M113" 5.4-liter supercharged V8, which produces 493 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. The hand-built engine spins the rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission.
