It was the smallest and least expensive model in the company's line-up. The W201 introduced many innovations for a Mercedes-Benz, including Macpherson front suspension and multilink rear suspension, front and rear anti-roll bars, anti-dive and anti-squat geometry, airbags, ABS brakes, and seat belt pre-tensioners.The high-performance 2.3-16 model was developed for Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM) racing, and a homologated model, such as this one, was built for the driving public.Power comes from a 2.3-liter inline-4, rated at 185 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque in stock form. This engine may be making more power as a result of the modifications, though a dyno sheet was not provided to confirm.
