Product Details

1985 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16, finished in black with a black interior. This 190E is equipped with the desirable 5-speed manual transmission. This grey market 190E was built to European specifications and reportedly imported to the U.S. when nearly new. It retains European-spec headlights, corner lights, and bumpers, but it has been federalized so its instrument cluster displays miles.Factory equipment includes a body kit, height-adjustable headlights, power windows, a sunroof, and air conditioning. This 190E has been extensively modified, featuring Strömung headers, a 2.5-inch exhaust, a lightweight flywheel, Ground Control Road-Race coilovers, adjustable Koni dampers, and a Momo steering wheel. A full list of modifications reported by the seller can be found below.Called "W201" internally, the Mercedes-Benz 190 arrived in the U.S. for the 1984 model year. It was the smallest and least expensive model in the company's line-up. The W201 introduced many innovations for a Mercedes-Benz, including Macpherson front suspension and multilink rear suspension, front and rear anti-roll bars, anti-dive and anti-squat geometry, airbags, ABS brakes, and seat belt pre-tensioners.The high-performance 2.3-16 model was developed for Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM) racing, and a homologated model, such as this one, was built for the driving public.Power comes from a 2.3-liter inline-4, rated at 185 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque in stock form. This engine may be making more power as a result of the modifications, though a dyno sheet was not provided to confirm. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission and a Wavetrac limited-slip differential.
