Product Details

1999 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS, finished in silver with a black interior. This coupe's factory-fitted 2.5-liter flat-4 engine has been replaced by a 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-4 that was reportedly sourced from a Japanese-market 1999 WRX. The list of modifications reported by the seller also includes an intercooler, a fuel rail, and fuel injectors from a WRX STI, a GrimmSpeed boost controller, an HKS blow-off valve, 4-piston front brake calipers from a WRX, a MOMO steering wheel, an aftermarket shift knob, and a Kenwood head unit.Subaru expanded the first-generation Impreza line-up with the 2.5RS for 1998. Initially offered only as a coupe, it gained a more muscular exterior design characterized by round fog lights and a rear spoiler, sport seats for the front passengers, and a more powerful engine. In hindsight, Subaru brought the 2.5RS to America to determine whether it could make a favorable business case for selling the WRX here.Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-4, rated at about 280 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque when left stock. The modifications might increase those figures but a dyno sheet is not available. Called "EJ205" internally, the engine spins the four wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
