Introduced for the 2004 model year, the RX-8 was marketed as the latest in a long line of Mazda coupes powered by a rotary engine. It further stood out from the competition with a pair of rear-hinged half-doors that let passengers access the rear seats without resorting to contortionism. 2009 brought a mid-cycle update, and production ended after the 2012 model year. Mazda still hasn't released another RX-badged coupe.Power for this RX-8 comes from a 1.3-liter twin-rotor engine, which produces 238 horsepower and 160 lb-ft of torque. It spins the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
