2003 BMW 540i, finished in Sterling Gray Metallic with a black interior. This E39 is equipped with the M-Sport Package, also referred to as the M-Tech Package. This feature was only available to the North American market in 2003 for the final model year of the E39 5-series, and included an M-Technic aerodynamics package, M-Sport suspension, 18-inch Style 37 "M Parallel" wheels, Shadowline exterior trim, and M cosmetic touches throughout. Available at launch, the V8-powered 540i remained positioned as the quickest and most expensive non-M-badged model until E39 production ended after the 2003 model year. The 540i M Tech is revered as a more approachable E39 M5 alternative, thanks to its sport tuning, similar styling, and less-stressed V8 engine.Power comes from an "M62" 4.4-liter V8, rated at 290 horsepower and 324 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission.
