2003 BMW 540i, finished in Sterling Grey Metallic with a black interior. This 540i is equipped with the M Sport Package, also referred to as the M Tech Package. This package was only available to the North American market in 2003 for the final model year of the E39 5-series, and included 18-inch M Parallel wheels, an M Sport suspension, an M Aerodynamics body kit, Shadowline exterior trim, and M cosmetic touches throughout. This car's build sheet is pictured in the gallery.Modifications reported by the seller are limited to paint protection film.In the United States, BMW introduced the E39-generation 5 Series for the 1997 model year. Available at launch, the V8-powered 540i remained positioned as the quickest and most expensive non-M-badged model until E39 production ended after the 2003 model year. The 540i M Sport is revered as a more approachable E39 M5 alternative, thanks to its sport tuning, similar styling, and less-stressed V8 engine.Power comes from an "M62" 4.4-liter V8, rated at 290 horsepower and 324 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission.
