Like the standard Impreza, the WRX was offered as a sedan and as a station wagon.The WRX (World Rally eXperimental) STI gained rally-bred upgrades, including a more powerful engine, a firmer suspension, Brembo brakes, a limited-slip rear differential, and a more muscular design characterized by a functional hood scoop and a rear wing. It became an instant success, thanks in part to its rally-inspired handling and its turbocharged engine. Power comes from an "EJ25" 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-4, which produces 293 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. The engine spins all four wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission and all-wheel-drive system.
