The roadster was part of the 124 range, which also included a sedan, a wagon, and a coupe, and it outlived the other body styles by a significant margin. Several visual and mechanical updates were made to the 124 Spider; displacement notably grew to 2.0 liters during the 1978 model year. Fiat left the American market after 1983 but the Spider astonishingly stayed here.
