2001 Honda S2000, finished in Spa Yellow with a black interior. Modifications to the S2000 include a Pioneer head unit and a carbon fiber shifter surround. Standard equipment includes a limited-slip differential, 16-inch alloy wheels, leather sport seats, an aluminum shift knob and pedals, a power-operated soft top, and air conditioning. Honda introduced the S2000 for the 2000 model year to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Offered only as a convertible, it offered a 50/50 weight distribution thanks in part to an engine mounted entirely behind the front axle. Honda called the original S2000 "AP1" internally. The 2001 model was largely unchanged over the introductory year, except Honda added a digital clock to the radio display and made the rear wind deflector standard. Honda also added the Spa Yellow exterior color — as seen here — to the U.S. market.Power comes from a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with Honda's VTEC technology, which revs to 9,000 rpm and produces 240 horsepower and 153 lb-feet of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
