2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, finished in Black Clearcoat with a black interior. This Mustang was number 346 of just 1,000 cars to receive the Shelby GT500KR Package, which added multiple unique performance and styling upgrades over the standard GT500. Features included an SVT-tuned suspension, the Ford Racing Power Upgrade Package, a Ford Racing front brake duct cooling kit, 18-inch forged aluminum Shelby GT500KR wheels, and a Shelby carbon fiber hood. A complete list of upgrades is included below.Called "S197" internally, the 5th-generation Mustang launched for 2005 with a heritage-laced design, a new platform, and an available 24-valve V8 engine. Extending the wheelbase gave the Mustang a much more compliant ride than its predecessor, though it remained true to the pony car ethos that characterized the original model. Production ended in 2014, when the "S197" passed the torch to the current-generation Mustang.The GT500KR was built in collaboration by Ford and Shelby to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the original 1968 Shelby GT500KR. "KR" stands for "King of the Road;" a fitting title for what was once the most powerful Mustang ever built by the factory, both in 1968 and again in 2008. The KR upgrade would set buyers back an additional $35,000, putting the total MSRP of this particular example just north of $80,000.Power comes from a 5.4-liter supercharged V8, rated by Shelby at 540 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. It spins the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
