The sole modification is the installation of a LoJack theft recovery system. Audi positioned the first-generation A3 at the bottom of its American range for the 2016 model year. Built on the MQB platform, the model offers the luxury, sharp styling, and performance that Audi is known for in a package that is smaller and more affordable than the A4.Introduced in mid-2014, the A3 e-tron model was Audi's first plug-in hybrid for the U.S. market. It features an 8.8-kWh lithium-ion battery pack that powers an electric motor located between the internal combustion engine and the transmission. The car comes with access to the A3 e-tron app, which allows the user to find the car's location, see how much battery charge is remaining, turn the air conditioner on remotely, and more. The A3 e-tron was only offered as a Sportback wagon version, and production ended in 2018. Power comes from a "TFSI" 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-4 and a 75-kW electric motor, which when combined produce 204 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The engine spins the front wheels via a 6-speed S Tronic automatic transmission.
