It used the iconic GM B-body platform and came exclusively with a wagon body. It was very similar to the Estate variants of the Buick Roadmaster and Chevrolet Caprice, but the Oldsmobile is much rarer today. The Custom Cruiser was not only the last Oldsmobile station wagon but the final model for the marque with a V8 and rear-wheel-drive configuration.Power comes from an "L03" 5.0-liter V8 engine, rated at 170 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a "4L60" 4-speed automatic transmission.
