Agencies across America prized the Tahoe because it was the only body-on-frame police vehicle available.Power for this Tahoe comes from a 5.3-liter V8, which produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque when burning gasoline. Filling up with E85 increases those figures to 380 and 416, respectively. The engine spins the rear wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.Chevrolet pegged the rear-wheel-drive Tahoe's towing capacity at 8,600 pounds, a 200-pound increase over the four-wheel-drive model. Payload checked in at 1,702 pounds.
