Modifications reported by the seller include a spray-in bedliner, a trailer hitch, and diamond plating on the top part of the tailgate.Subaru released the original Brat (short for "Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain Transporter") for 1978 and launched the second-generation model during the 1982 model year. Designed largely for the American market, the Brat was based on the Leone so it featured unibody construction yet it offered a reasonably practical cargo box. Fitting jump seats in the back allowed Subaru to get around the Chicken Tax by importing the Brat as a passenger car rather than as a pickup. Sales ended after the 1987 model year in the United States, though the Brat lived in some overseas markets until 1994.Power comes from a 1.8-liter flat-4, rated at 73 horsepower and 94 lb-ft of torque. It spins the front or the four wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission and a 2-speed transfer case.
