Called "NB" internally, it received an updated design, a more powerful engine, and a bigger trunk, among other changes. It was easier to live with on a daily basis but it lost none of its predecessor's agility. Mazda replaced the "NB" with the 3rd-generation "NC" model in 2006.Power comes from a 5.7-liter V8, rated at approximately 310 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque in stock form. An included dyno sheet shows this Miata is now producing 337 horsepower and 361 lb-ft of torque at the wheels, and output is directed to the rear axle through a 6-speed manual transmission.
