The STI version was introduced to North America for the 2004 model year, where it remains the highest-specification Subaru available.The WRX (World Rally eXperimental) STI gained rally-bred upgrades, including a more powerful engine, a firmer suspension, front and rear limited-slip differentials, and a more muscular design characterized by a functional hood scoop and a rear wing. It became an instant success, thanks in part to its rally-inspired handling and its turbocharged engine.Power comes from an “EJ257” 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-4, rated at 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
