Product Details

1988 Porsche 944, finished in Garnet Red with a black interior. This 944 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter Chevrolet V8 engine, and equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission. Factory equipment includes 16-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, and power windows and locks. In addition to the engine, other modifications reported by the seller include aftermarket intercoolers, a 22-gallon fuel cell, a fuel boost pump controller, AN fuel, oil, and coolant lines, a hood delete and front valance modification, aftermarket front seats with 4-point harnesses, a quick-release steering wheel, auxiliary gauges, rear seat and interior panel delete, and a relocated battery. The full list is shown below. Porsche introduced the 944 for the 1983 model year as an evolution of the 924, and positioned it as the entry-level model for most of the 1980s. It gradually expanded the range with a mid-level 944 S and a flagship Turbo model. Production ended after the 1991 model year, and and the 944 was replaced by the 968 for 1992.Power comes from a 6.0-liter V8, rated at 300 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque in stock form. Due to the addition of twin turbochargers and intercoolers, it's plausible that this engine is making more power, but a dyno sheet was not provided to confirm. Output is directed to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission.
