The 11th-generation Thunderbird was released for the 2002 model year, after a 5-year hiatus and following up on a 1999 Thunderbird concept car. It was styled as a homage to the first generation 1955 Ford Thunderbird, and helped kick off a retro-styling trend.The 2002 Ford Thunderbird is powered by a 3.9-liter V8, which produces 252 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque.
