Launched for the 2015 model year, the "VA"-generation WRX and WRX STI were split from the Impreza that they were based on. They became standalone models, not merely sportier evolutions of a compact car, and their new identity was accompanied by a more muscular-looking design plus the assortment of engine and chassis tweaks fans expected.Power comes from a 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-4, rated at 305 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque in stock form. The modifications increase those figures to 577 and 602 (respectively) at the wheels, according to a dyno sheet pictured in the gallery. Called "EJ257" internally, the engine spins the four wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
